This week's question:

What is your opinion on legislators' technical knowledge? Click here or on "More" below to take the survey.

(note: all respondents are confidential; the software is programmed in such a way that neither we nor anyone else can determine who responded)

Last week we asked, "Have you encouraged your children to enter the pulp and paper industry?"

33% said yes

66% said no

Comments included:

"The fact that mills have been closing and others have been downsizing for decades, focusing on cost rather than value, and expecting the remaining employees to do more than they are able has resulted in low levels of security and job satisfaction in our industry. Paper industry management has created a hostile working environment based on the belief that most people are not going to be able to find a better place to work. Our young engineers have left in droves, because they DID have choices."
