This week's question:

Do you think the Gulf of Mexico oil spill will affect the economics of your mill (in any way) within the next five years?

(note: all respondents are confidential; the software is programmed in such a way that neither we nor anyone else can determine who responded)

Last week we asked for a yes or not answer to the statement: "I can confidently say I know what it takes to "spin the invoice printer" at our company!

Yes 97%

No 3%

Our follow on question was to characterize the size of the respondents' companies:

57% said their company is less than USD 500 million per year in sales

9% said their company is between USD 501 million to 1 billion per year in sales

12% said their company is over USD 1 billion per year in sales

Other comments:

I work for a vendor in sales support. i.e., my livelyhood depends on spinning the invoice printer

Our company is privately held and no longer shares financial information or sales and customer data with mill personnel. We are asked to focus on cost savings at the mill level and are not informed of the broader picture other than in generalities.

It is necessary that all empoyees understand the concept of servicing the customer and their impact (both positive and negative) on saes.

But, does one know what they personally do to "spin the invoice printer" or do they assume its someone elses job to do that?
