CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (From The Gazette) -- The Ohio EPA will come to Chillicothe, Ohio next week to conduct a public hearing on changes at Glatfelter.
The meeting will be to discuss a draft air permit-to-install modification for P.H. Glatfelter Company - Chillicothe. The hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the OU-Chillicothe auditorium, 101 University Drive.
The draft permit would affect three of the company's boilers. The company has requested to convert two of the boilers to primarily use natural gas and to add additional pollution control equipment to the third.
The proposed changes are estimated to result in significant emission reductions of a number of pollutants, including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, particulate matter and carbon dioxide (including an annual 78,000-ton carbon dioxide reduction in one boiler).
