Fire breaks out at Huhtamaki facility

ENGLAND (From the Portsmouth News) -- Firefighters spent three hours tackling a fire at the Huhtamaki facility in Gosport at around 9 p.m. on Thursday night.

Crews from Gosport, Fareham and Southsea were called to the scene, off Rowner Road, after thick, black smoke was seen rising from the site.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: 'We were called to a fire involving a commercial premise in the Gosport area. The call came in at 9 p.m. and the stop was received at 11:50 p.m. The fire involved an electric roof fan.

Crews used two jets, two breathing apparatus and two ladders to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Huhtamaki is one of Gosport's largest employers and makes paper cups, napkins and plates for companies.
