UPM again among the leading companies in the Dow Jones World and European Sustainability Indices | UPM, sustainability, award,

Helsinki (News release) - UPM has been included among the leading companies and as the only company in its sector in the Dow Jones World and European Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 2025-2026, placing it among the world's most rigorously assessed sustainability leaders for several years in a row.

The DJSI evaluates thousands of the world's largest companies based on environmental, social and governance performance. Companies are evaluated through S&P Global's Corporate Sustainability Assessment, and only the top-ranked in each industry are selected for inclusion.

"This recognition reflects the disciplined work we have done across our company for years. UPM offers a broad range of materials and solutions that hundreds of millions of people rely on every day. The renewable fibres, advanced materials, and decarbonization solutions we offer transform supply chains and enable daily sustainable choices," says Saara Tahvanainen, EVP, UPM Marketing, Sustainability and Communications.

The ranking reflects concrete, measurable commitments. UPM's 2030 sustainability targets include a 65% reduction in fossil CO₂ emissions compared to 2015, and a target of 40% female representation in professional and managerial roles. UPM's climate strategy is built on three pillars - sustainable forest management, emissions reduction and sustainable products - with a science-based approach aligned to limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

Inclusion as one of the top companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices signals independently verified leadership in sustainability, strong governance and long-term competitiveness. UPM's sustainability performance is also recognized across multiple leading global ESG assessments and indices, such as EcoVadis and CDP. Together, these recognitions reinforce trust among customers, investors and the wider stakeholder community, and reflect UPM's science-based approach to addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to resource scarcity.
