"The equipment and solutions from ANDRITZ will enable us to improve availability and cooking yield, increase flexibility in raw material usage, and support us in reaching our planned production levels," says Ismo Nousiainen, CEO of Metsä Fibre Oy.
The modernization covers the conversion of the existing cooking system to ANDRITZ single-vessel LoSolids continuous cooking technology, which enables the mill to process both softwood and hardwood. The scope of supply also includes the TurboFeed chip feeding system with a new Diamondback chip bin, and a vapor reboiler to improve digester heat recovery and minimize odorous gas emissions.
With the modernized cooking plant, the mill can produce a total of 1.5 million tons of softwood and hardwood pulp per year.
This order further strengthens the long-standing business relationship between Metsä Fibre and ANDRITZ. Among other supplies, ANDRITZ has delivered several key production technologies - including the complete fiberline - to Metsä Fibre's Äänekoski bioproduct mill.
