Concerning Fuels

Jim,

News from an Australian service seems to echo my message of this [past] week: biofuels are not going to solve any mill’s problems over night:

"Australian Biofuel plants fail to fire

"ABC News reported this week that plans for two AU$100 million ethanol plants in the Wimmera Mallee in North-Western Victoria have been halted. Agri Energy Limited says its decision is because of the current global Biofuels market outlook and the Government and community support for alternative transport fuels in Australia."

Desmond Smith
Washington, USA

Thanks, Desmond, for sharing this with our readers. I would hasten to add, however, that success or failure of a given endeavor may depend on local conditions, including a government's position, local climate for growing renewable materials and so forth. These local matters, of course, need thorough research and debate, too--it is just worth saying that one set of conditions may not apply universally.

Jim
