The co-worker or subordinate that is a slacker is a large problem in any entity. These are the people that started early with the "Dog ate my homework" routine and have been at it ever since. We are attempting to establish a department devoted to foiling these characters. Its success will in large part depend on you providing anecdotes, success stories, pleas for help, suggestions to solve pleas for help and so forth. So, we need your contributions. We'll keep them anonymous.

What do you do when your boss will not sign your expense report because you have not padded the meal section enough? He wanted it padded, of course, so it would look like the ones he turned in all the time.

Actually, I had this experience one time myself. I could not think of much to do about it except do what he told me to do. Attempting to turn him in would have only gotten me fired, yet at the same time I needed to clear my conscience and protect myself in case this situation was ever exposed. My solution was to furnish my own office supplies and keep receipts for what I had bought. This kept me straight with my conscience and gave me a possible way out if there ever was an investigation. Fortunately, I never had to use it.
