Blaze at Domtar pulp mill

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia -- News outlets are reporting that fire crews responded to a hog fuel fire at the Domtar pulp mill in Kamloops on Wednesday.

Domtar spokesperson Bonny Skeene was reported as saying the blaze ignited in a woodpile around 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. She added that the blaze was extinguished by about 4 p.m., but reignited around 5 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown but Skeene said that it is possible it was a result of spontaneous combustion. Equipment was not compromised and operations were not halted.
