Kimberly-Clark Australia says it will close mill

AUSTRALIA - The Border Mail newspaper is reporting that Kimberly-Clark Australia has announced that its Albury mill will close in the second half of 2015, with the loss of 44 jobs.

The company's managing director, Robbert Rietbroek said the high cost of manufacturing and the small scale of its operations meant the Albury mill had not been competitive for some time.

"The Albury mill is no longer viable to produce cost competitive nonwoven products for its remaining customers," Rietbroek told the newspaper.

The Albury Mill began operations in 1987 and produced nonwoven fabrics for use in sterile medical applications (surgical wraps and gowns), industrial applications and as a component for the manufacture of nappies.
