Life is Short

If the latest tragedy at the Nippon Dynawave mill didn't shake you, it should.

People were at work, going through a normal day and then boom.

What a tragic event.

My heart goes out to their family members. I can't even imagine.

Even if they followed proper safety protocols would that have mattered?

Accidents happen. Explosions. Car wrecks. It can't be predicted.

I worked as a paralegal for years and saw people that have lost their loved ones in devastating ways. It breaks your heart when you hear their stories. It's heartbreaking.

So love those in your life that you love and value. Now.

A wise sage once told me life is a merry go round and you don't get a second chance.

Another wise sage told me that life is short, so enjoy it while you can. You won't have a second opportunity.

Sometimes people focus on petty things in life. That's sad. Is that really what matters? Disputes between people or workplace grumbles? Focus on something greater than all that. Life is too short for petty stuff.

Live, love, be kind to others. Remember, life is too short and fragile to not do that.

Helen Roush is Executive Vice President of Paperitalo Publications.
