UPDATED: Worker killed in accident at mill

MOSINEE, Wisconsin - A worker at the Expera Specialty Solutions mill in Mosinee died Monday morning, according to a report from WAOW-TV.

Matthew C. Ament, 55, of Merrill, Wisconsin, reportedly fell from a hydraulic bucket while installing insulation at the former Wausau Paper mill.

According to police reports, Ament fell about 25 feet at around 9 a.m. and died at the scene. Ament, employed by Taylor Insulation, was working alone on the lift outside a building.

Addie Teeters, a spokeswoman for the company, told the Wausau Daily Herald that Ament was on site installing insulation on equipment when he fell about 25 feet from a man-lift.

She said another employee found him shortly after 9 a.m. and the company's first responders tried to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene. She said he did not have anyone with him when he fell, so how he fell is unknown, but he had completed mandatory training that includes fall protection measures.

"Incidents like this do not happen frequently, if ever," Teeters said.
