Woman sues RR Donnelley for age discrimination allegations

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (From The Pennsylvania Record) -- A former senior account representative for RR Donnelley is suing the company for allegations of age discrimination.

Cathy Peoples filed a lawsuit on April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against RR Donnelley and Sons Company, doing business as RR Donnelley, citing violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, and Pennsylvania's Wage Payment and Collection Law (PWPCL).

According to the complaint, Peoples was employed by the defendant from 2004 until Jan. 5, 2015, working as a senior account representative. The plaintiff had previously worked since 1998 for the defendant's predecessor company.

In September 2014, the defendant allegedly informed the plaintiff that she was being removed from an account based on the customer's decision, in favor of a younger employee. Peoples claims that the defendant attempted to force her to agree to lower pay, consequently forcing her to resign on Jan. 5, 2015. The plaintiff claims she was forced out of work on the basis of her age.

Peoples seeks damages in the amount of $390,809.17 in unpaid commissions, relief provided by the PWPCL, attorneys' fees, cost of the suit, and a trial by jury. She is represented by Joel S. Sansone and Massimo A. Terzigni of the Law Offices of Joel Sansone, in Pittsburgh.
