Hamburger Containerboard invests in long-term plant development in Dunaújvaros, Hungary

Valmet will deliver an additive feeding system upgrade and a redundant steam reduction station system to Hamburger Containerboard Dunaújvaros in Hungary. Together, the deliveries will support the customer in their long-term plant development targets by improving the power boiler availability and environmental performance, as well as enabling participation in the growing electricity reserve market, respectively.

The value of the order will not be disclosed. The installations are scheduled to take place during the mill's annual shutdown in autumn 2025.

The delivery will include an additive feeding system upgrade with a new calcium hydroxide silo and a redundant steam reduction station system for turbine bypass.

The upgrade will improve the acid gas removal from the boiler's flue gases. In the future, the two redundant lines will provide non-stop service and better environmental performance. In addition, a new 100 m3 silo will be delivered to increase the storage capacity for calcium hydroxide.

Both deliveries include engineering and manufacturing new equipment with necessary piping and valves, project management and site supervision, plant automation system changes, installation work, and commissioning.

Hamburger Hungaria Ltd., part of Prinzhorn Group, is a leading brown containerboard paper manufacturer in Europe. With its two production lines in Dunaújvaros, the company produces 700,000 tons of recycled containerboard paper each year.

Valmet has a global customer base across various process industries.
