Metsä Group appoints Katariina Kemppainen as SVP, Group R&D

Metsä Group continues to accelerate its investments into research and development. A new Group R&D function was set up in summer of 2021 and the consequent build-up phase has integrated the function well into the larger Metsä Group entity.
The role of the group-level research and development activities will be further strengthened in the future. Katariina Kemppainen, the person in charge of the function, has been appointed SVP, Group R&D, as of 1 January, 2023. She will continue to report to the CEO of Metsä Group's innovation company Metsä Spring, Niklas von Weymarn.
Metsä Group is a Finnish forest industry group that operates in international markets. Metsä Group's core businesses are tissue and cooking papers (Metsä Tissue), board (Metsä Board), pulp (Metsä Fibre), wood products (Metsä Wood).
