No injuries reported after fire breaks out at McKinley Paper Mill in Combined Locks, Wisconsin

COMBINED LOCKS, Wisconsin (From news reports) -- No one was hurt after a fire broke out at a Fox Valley paper mill.

Just after 9 p.m. Monday, June 1, crews were called to the McKinley Paper Mill, located at 540 Prospect Street in Combined Locks, for a report of a dryer fire on Paper Machine 6.

Upon arrival, the McKinley Paper Mill Fire Brigade was attempting to put out the fire. Combined Locks and Buchanan fire personnel were told the blaze was on the roof and in the upper sections surrounding Paper Machine 6.

Additional resources were requested after confirmation of fire extension to the roof. Personnel from Combined Locks, Buchanan, Little Chute, Kimberly and Kaukauna worked together to contain the fire, extinguish remaining hot spots and complete overhaul operations.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately three hours. A damage estimate is not yet available.

Kaukauna Ambulance and Combined Locks and Buchanan EMS personnel provided rehabilitation and medical support for responding firefighters throughout the incident.

No injuries were reported among mill employees or emergency responders.
