Cause of fire at Domtar Paper in Nekoosa, Wisconsin under investigation

NEKOOSA, Wis. (From news reports) - Multiple Wood County-area fire departments responded to a fire at the Domtar Paper Co., LLC in Nekoosa.

Crews were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, to the paper mill located at 301 Point Basse Avenue along the Wisconsin River. No injuries were sustained in the incident.

Officials on scene said it was a small fire and crews were able to contain it within a short amount of time. They are unsure of how much damage the fire caused.

Responding crews said that they are unsure of the exact cause of the fire, but it appears to have started from wood chips that were stuck in one of the mill's stacks.
